In vitro study suggests that compound displays high affinity for CB1 and CB2 receptors and activates them at lower concentrations. 4F-MDMB-2201 is the homologue of 5F-MDMB-2201. Moreover, it is an indazole based drug and belongs to indazole-3-carboxamide family. General clinical study shows that 4F-MDMB-2201 is a strong agonist and has high affinity for CB1 receptor.

The IUPAC name of 4F-MDMB-2201 is methyl2-(1-(4-cyanobutyl)-1h-indole-3-carboxamido)-3.3-dimethylbutanoate. Other synonyms for this chemical drug are 4F-MDMB-BICA, 4FBCA and 4FAKB. 4F-MDMB uses can cause severe and adverse effects in humans.  On the basis of self reports, it was inferred that it causes visual hallucination, paranoia, confusion, chest pain, agitation and irregular heart beat. It is sold online as a designer drug.
